I don’t know if you have the same problem that I always have on a Friday night, I get in from work and try to figure out what to wear.

Miss Selfridge has some items that are perfect for a night out if you want to be that little bit more dressy.

Black Playsuit, I love this as it is keeping in line with what’s fashionable, but also very flattering, team with heels from Office that I wrote about in this post.

Black Tulip Dress, this dress is tulip shape so is great for the fuller figure. Team the dress with brighter accessories if you don’t want to blend into the background.

Blue Ruffled Battered Dress, If you don’t want to wear a black dress then go for this blue dress. I would go for gold accessories and the gold heels from Office mentioned in this post.

Rouched Boobtube Dress, Body Con is the hardest fashion to wear, as you have to have the figure to wear it, just make sure you have the right underwear underneath this.

When it starts getting warm I always look in my wardrobe and think of what to wear for work.
I find work clothes very hard to piece together as you want to look smart but also fashionable.

I have been having a look at New Look and they have some very fashionable items at the moment, what I have gone for it cut off shirts and then either trousers or a skirt.

Ruffles are very big this season and look really good on shirts, I have picked a few shirts from New Look.

Stripe Ruffle Blouse

This shirt is very flattering as you have the ribbon around it, so if you have a bit of a belly this would be good for you. I would team this with Belted Formal Trousers and heels.

Ruffle Front Blouse

This blouse is lovely with a pencil skirt I would tuck it in to create a smarter effect. It comes in jade and black if you don’t want to wear the white one. With this one make sure that you have the correct bra, I would choose a t-shirt bra to create the smooth effect.

Gingham Gypsy Shirt

The gingham is the perfect pattern if you want to jazz up a plain black skirt, the empire neckline is very flattering. You can wear this tucked in or have it hanging out, put it with Belted Formal Trousers if you are bigger on the bottom half.

Check Ruffle Shirt

Not much to say about this, the checks are lovely and fresh, if you are bigger up top I would stay clear of this one. Team with Belted Crop Trousers and black wedges as this will give the appearance of height if you are a bit short.

Metallic Blouse

This tie blouse is good for work and great for the evening, add the Buttoned Skirt and heels. This top comes in pink as well.

Oh my god we are still having the most amazing weather ever and I know that every lady when the sun comes out, has no idea what to wear.

Here are just a few bits from Miss Selfridge, I love Miss Selfridge as they update their website all the time.

The style that is very big this summer is the Grecian look, this can be worn by anyone and is so flattering.

I have picked two Grecian style items for you to have a look at.

The Twist Grecian Dress is dark grey is perfect for the day and night, I love this grey but would team it with shocking pink as it brings it to life.

The Crepe Drop Pkt Skirt this can be teamed with a white shirt for the work look, or a scoop neck t-shirt for the casual look.

I also came across this Ditsey Rara Tier Skirt, the skirt is really good for this weather, but just remember to keep the top very simple.

Celebrity stylist Gok Wan from the channel 4 programme “How to Look Good Naked” is working with Dorothy Perkins giving everyone his style tips and advice on fashion.


Gok is also doing on the website “Gok’s Grab of the Week” this is the must have item you should have now.


The section that I love the best is the videos and advice on your body shape, he goes through all the types of body shapes there are and what suits you best.


I couldn’t help myself but had to tell you about this black polka dot dress from Dorothy Perkins, this is a bargain at £30.00. The dress can be worn in the day with flip flops, and then ditch the flip flops and put on some heels for the sexy evening look.

The one item of clothing I find the hardest to buy is a dress, because this item has to fit perfectly and show off all the parts you want to show off and at the same time also look sexy and sophisticated.

There are so many factors to think about when buying a dress.
1. Is it suitable for my body shape
2. The occasion that I am going to, is this the right dress to wear?
3. Does the colour suit me?
4. Will everything stay in place that I want to!!

And the most important factor is - Do I have the right underwear for the dress, there is nothing worse than when you see a beautiful dress and you ruin it by adding a VPL or seeing what colour knickers or bra you are wearing

White Cotton and Silk Dress
This dress can be teamed with gladiator sandals for the day look.

Black Layered Taffeta Dress
The dress is suitable for an evening event, maybe a May ball, I would put plain simple black high heeled shoes and a clutch bag.

Black Satin Layered Halter Dress
This dress is for the more daring and adventurous type of person. The dress is very much like a body con dress but that little bit kinder. If you are going to go bra less then I would get some double sided adhesive body tape, to make sure that you stay in place.

Grey Tie-dye Dress
This has summer party written all over it, the dress is keeping in line with dip dye fashion. As the back is so low and if you need to wear a bra I would suggest a bra that has a low back and also make sure it is halter neck.
